Otto Wichterle was born on October 27, 1913 and died on August 18, 1998. During his life, he was engaged in various occupations including a chemist, writer, politician, designer, and teacher.
Otto Wichterle received his education from the Czech Technical University in Prague, and is most notably known for his work involving the invention of the contact lens. In recognition of his achievements, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007. Wichterle spent his final years in Prague, where he ultimately passed away.
