Oxehealth Limited is a company developing software that can measure pulse, breathing rate, and human activity/behavior using proprietary algorithms that harness deep learning, computer vision, and signal processing techniques. The software generates alerts and reports on activity and vital signs to inform care planning.
Oxehealth's Digital Care Assistant is helping staff in mental health, police, care home, prison, acute hospital and home care settings. It gives clinicians, carers, and custodians more time for hands-on care.
In October 2018, Oxehealth's software that allows a video camera to remotely measure vital signs was the first to be certified as a Class 2a medical device in Europe by the British Standards Institute. Initial clinical studies were completed at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, with further trials conducted at the Broadmoor Psychiatric Hospital and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust.
The Oxford-based company was founded in 2012 by Lionel Tarassenko as a spin-out of Oxford University’s Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Oxehealth has raised a total of $5.5M in grants, Seed, and Venture rounds of funding.
