American engineer
Paul Baran was born on April 29, 1926, in Grodno, and held citizenship in both the United States and Poland. He was a businessperson, computer scientist, and engineer, known for his notable work in packet switching. Baran was educated at Drexel University and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
In recognition of his contributions, Paul Baran was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007. He passed away in Palo Alto, California, on March 26, 2011.
