Paul Benacerraf, born on March 26, 1931, in Paris, is a mathematician and philosopher. He holds citizenship in both the United States and France. Paul Benacerraf is considered an influential person in the field of philosophy of mathematics.
Benacerraf completed his education at Peddie School and Princeton University. He worked under the supervision of his doctoral advisor, Hilary Putnam.
Throughout his academic career, Paul Benacerraf has guided several doctoral students, including John Earman, Alvin Goldman, Philip Kitcher, Mark Steiner, Alan Baker (philosopher), Richard Grandy, and Gideon Rosen.
