Paul Dirac was a British-Swiss physicist, mathematician, and engineer born on August 8, 1902, in Bristol, United Kingdom . He was educated at the University of Bristol, St John's College, Cambridge, and the University of Cambridge . Throughout his career, he worked as a professor, physicist, scientist, teacher, mathematician, and engineer .
Under the guidance of Ralph H. Fowler, Dirac completed his doctoral studies . He then went on to advise several notable students, including Fred Hoyle, John Polkinghorne, Homi J. Bhabha, Dennis W. Sciama, and Harish-Chandra . Dirac is best known for his work in quantum mechanics and various important concepts, such as the Dirac equation, Dirac delta function, Fermi–Dirac statistics, and Dirac fermion .
He made significant contributions to the field of physics and is credited as the creator of quantum mechanics . Dirac received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the 1933 Nobel Prize in Physics . He passed away on October 20, 1984, in Tallahassee, Florida, United States .
