Pedro Álvarez de Toledo, Marquis of Villafranca, was born on July 13, 1484, in Salamanca, and held Spanish citizenship. He was a politician, statesman, and military personnel. Pedro Álvarez de Toledo was the father of Eleanor of Toledo and Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo, 2nd Duke of Alba, among other children. He was also the son of Fadrique Álvarez de Toledo, 2nd Duke of Alba.
Álvarez de Toledo is known for his role as a Spanish politician, primarily during the Renaissance era. His official name was Pedro Álvarez de Toledo y Zúñiga, and he held the title of Marquess of Villafranca del Bierzo. In addition to his political stature, Pedro was the father-in-law of Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany.
