Founded in 2012, Petcube designs and develops remote pet devices; the Petcube Play and Petcube Bites.
The Petcube Play is a connected device with a 180 degree field of view and voice control through which the owner can use a laser toy to play with their cat or dog while away, as well as talk to them and watch live video feed of their pet.
Similar to the Petcube Play, the Petcube Bites has a camera with a 180 degree field of view and voice controls. But, instead of a laser toy, the Petcube Bites flings treats.
Petcube's subscription plan, Petcube Care, offers users of their free app to upgrade their service, which can include video history, smart alerts, video clips and downloads and extra warranty's.
Petcube participated in the HAX accelerator during 2013, as part of HAX Class 3 through which they raised $70,000.
Petcube began a Kickstarter campaign in 2013 to raise $100,000. As of July 2016, Petcube raised $251,225.
Awarded in October 2014, Petcube received $18,500 in a grant from the Global Technology Foundation while at the IDCEE international tech conference in Kiev.
Announced in March, 2015, Petcube raised $1.1 million in funding. AVentures Capital and Almaz Capital co-led the round with participation from SOSVentures, David Michaels and Nick Bilogorskiy. They pledged the funding towards shipping to brick-and-mortar stores and establishing a greater distribution network.
In a second Seed round, announced in February of 2016, Petcube, while part of Y Combinator's Winter 2016 class, they raised $2.6 million. Investment came from Y Combinator, Almaz Capital and AVentures Capital.
Announced in October, 2017, Petcube raised $10 million in funding. Participation in the round came from Y Combinator, Cabra VC, Almaz Capital and AVentures Capital.
In June of 2017, Petcube announced they acquired PetBot, another connected pet-camera company. PetBot's pet camera took "selfie's" of the animal and dispensed treats. The acquisition included PetBot's intellectual property and assets and PetBot's CTO and co-founder Miska Dzamba joined Petcube's engineering team. The financial terms of the acquisition were not released.
