Peter II of Sicily, born in Catania on July 24, 1305, was the son of King Frederick III of Sicily and Eleanor of Anjou. Peter's mother, Eleanor, was a daughter of Charles II of Naples. He became co-ruler with his father as King of Sicily in 1321, and later assumed sole rule in 1337, ruling until his death on August 15, 1342. Peter II passed away in Calascibetta.
