Philip of Swabia was born in Pavia in 1177. He was a child of Frederick I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Beatrice I, Countess of Burgundy. Philip held the occupation of a priest.
He married Irene Angela and had four children: Elisabeth of Swabia, Beatrice of Swabia, Kunigunde of Hohenstaufen, and Maria of Swabia. Elisabeth of Swabia was the daughter of Philip.
Philip of Swabia passed away on June 21, 1208, in Bamberg.
