Dutch astronomer
Pieter Johannes van Rhijn (born March 24, 1886, in Gouda, South Holland, passed away on May 9, 1960) was an astronomer from the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Van Rhijn earned his education at the University of Groningen. Before his death, he resided in Groningen.
Jacobus Kapteyn served as Van Rhijn's doctoral advisor. Van Rhijn mentored several notable doctoral students during his career, including Jan Oort, Peter van de Kamp, Bart Bok, Adriaan Blaauw, Egbert Adriaan Kreiken, Jan Schilt, and Jean Jacques Raimond Jr..
