Pillsy is a technology company that uses behavioral science and artificial intelligence-based monitoring and communication tools to help medical patients adhere to prescribed healthcare regiments such as taking their medications on schedule and with the proper dosage.
The Pillsy platform is designed to address a common problem called "Medication Non-Adherence", which refers to the case when a person doesn't take their prescribed medications as directed by their physician.
In a 2012 study, researcher Regina M. Bejamin, MD, estimated that Medication Non-Adherence is a problem for up to 75% of Americans and causes approximately 125,000 premature deaths per year in the United States.
Pillsy aims to help people build the habit of taking their prescribed medications as directed by sending notifications to users' phones when they forget to take a dose. The platform also uses specially designed pill bottles that automatically monitor when a dose has been taken and send alerts to prevent accidental double doses.
