Joint Stock Company "Russian Post" is a Russian state-owned company, operator of the Russian state postal network.
Member of the Universal Postal Union. The main office (office) is in Moscow. Until October 1, 2019, it was a federal state unitary enterprise. It is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance of Russia (until April 2013 it was under the jurisdiction of Rossvyaz)[3].
On March 29, 2013, it was included in the List of Strategic Enterprises of the Russian Federation under the number 516[4]. The company switched to a macro-regional structure[5]: it created 10 macro-regions, which united 82 branches on a regional basis. In 2015, Russian Post was included in the list of backbone enterprises of Russia[6]. The total number of employees was 351,753 (2014)[7].
On June 29, 2018, the President of the Russian Federation signed Federal Law No. 171-FZ "On the specifics of the Reorganization of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Post", the basics of the Activities of the joint-stock company "Russian Post" and on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation", according to which, from October 1, 2019, FSUE "Russian Post" is subject to reorganization in the form of a non-public joint-stock company with a sole shareholder represented by the Government of the Russian Federation [8]. On September 20, 2019, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation signed and published Orders of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2131-r and 2132-r dated 09/20/2019, which approved the Charter of the Russian Post Joint Stock Company and the transfer act of the Russian Post property complex[9
