Quilt is a developer of ductless heat pump systems for use in homes and offers artificial intelligence (AI) controls to increase overall and room-by-room efficiency and control. The software is integrated with the electric heat pump system and is part of the design of Quilt's system, which can create precise climate zones throughout a home while eliminating the need for duct systems of traditional furnaces.
The system is housed in a smaller form factor than the traditional heat pump. It is designed for Quilt by Mike&Maaike, a studio known for designing modern furniture and Google products. The redesign is focused on transforming the mounted vent, which tends to be hung on the wall of a room, into something more attractive than the typical, subjectively unattractive vents.
The AI system built into the Quilt heat pumps is intended to recognize heating and cooling patterns throughout a home to increase efficiency and cost-savings over time to offer an incentive for homeowners to switch to heat pumps. Quilt also offers a product that is intended to be compatible with smart devices, while defining them by better design and consumer friendliness, at a time when consumers are updating to electric heat pumps across the United States in greater numbers.
