Abstract

This proposal seeks funding to continue the development of the Detection and Recognition of Airborne Chemicals Onboard (DRACO) a small unmanned air vehicle (SUAV). This system combines an innovative technique of fluorescence signal transduction with melanin-inspired organic semiconductor (MIOS) materials to provide a reconfigurable, expandable, and highly sensitive artificial olfaction sensor. Easily mounted to commercial off the shelf and military UAVs, this system will greatly enhance the UAS opterator's perception of threats in the environment.
