Raymond Chandler was an American and British writer born in Chicago on July 23, 1888. His full birth name was Raymond Thornton Chandler. He held dual citizenship from England and the United States. Chandler was educated at Dulwich College and is best known for his works in the detective fiction genre. In addition to his many novels, his occupations included screenwriter and poet.
Some of his notable works include "The Big Sleep," "Farewell, My Lovely," "The Lady in the Lake," "The Little Sister," "The High Window," "The Long Goodbye," and "Poodle Springs". Raymond Chandler passed away in La Jolla on March 26, 1959.
