Arnold Jacob "Red" Auerbach (1917-2006) was an American professional basketball coach and executive known for his work in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in New York City and held United States citizenship. Auerbach went by the pseudonym "Red".
Auerbach's education included attending Eastern District High School, The George Washington University, and Columbia University School of General Studies. He also participated in George Washington Colonials men's basketball.
In his career, Auerbach received several awards, such as the NBA Championship, NBA Coach of the Year, and NBA All-Star Game Head Coach.
Regarding his personal life, Red Auerbach was married to Dorothy Lewis and had two children: Randy Auerbach and Nancy Auerbach. His parents were Hyman and Marie Auerbach. Auerbach passed away in Washington, D.C. in 2006.
