Republic is an online crowd equity funding platform for initial coin offerings (ICOs) and start-up companies. Republic was founded by Kendrink Nguyen and Paul Menchov in 2016. As of May 2016, Republic's online platform allows non-accredited investors to invest in ICOs and start-ups due to the passing of the U.S. Securities and Exchange enacted Title III of the JOBS Act.
On June 8, 2018 Republic closed a funding round with $12 million in funding from Binance, zk Capital, ZhenFund, Passport Capital, Jeffrey Tarrant, FBG Capital, and East Chain Co.
Republic received an undisclosed amount of seed funding on May 5, 2019. Investors included Republic Capital, RainMakeMe, Meltem Demirors, CoinFund, Borderless Capital, and Blockchain.com Ventures.
On January 1, 2020 Republic accounced its first Series A funding round, which had Ceras Ventures as an investor. On March 18, 2021, the company announced its second Series A funding round, which raised $36,000,000 from investors Tribe Capital, Motley Fool Ventures, Galaxy Interactive, CoinFund, Holland George Capital, Blue Ivy Ventures, Broadhaven Capital Partners, and ArkStream Capital.
Republic had two Series B funding rounds in 2021. The first one was in October and raised $150,000,000 from investors Tribe Capital, Pillar VC, Valor Equity Partners, HOF Capital, Motley Fool Ventures, George Godula, Galaxy Interactive, CoinFund, Crowd Venture Capital, Cabin VC, Brevan Howard, and Atreides.
The second Series B funding round was announced in November 2021 and raised an undisclosed amount. Investors included Moontide Capital, Hudson River Trading, and Gaingles.
