Richard M. Karp

Richard M. Karp , also known as Richard Manning Karp , is a mathematician and computer scientist from the United States . He was born on January 3, 1935, in Boston . Karp was educated at Harvard University , the University of California, Berkeley , and the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences .

His doctoral advisor was Anthony Oettinger , and he has supervised numerous doctoral students, including Rajeev Motwani , Barbara Simons , Narendra Karmarkar , and Raymond Reiter , among others. Currently, Karp is employed by the University of California .
