Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury, was born on January 1, 1400, in County Durham. He was the son of Ralph Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland, and Joan Beaufort, Countess of Westmorland. Richard Neville held multiple occupations, including jurist, judge, earl, and politician. He was an English nobleman, also known as an English magnate.
Richard Neville married Alice Montacute, 5th Countess of Salisbury. The couple had several children, including Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick; John Neville, 1st Marquess of Montagu; Cecily Neville, Duchess of Warwick; Katherine Neville, Baroness Hastings; Alice Neville; and Thomas Neville, who died in 1460.
Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury, was known for being a key supporter of the House of York during the early years of the Wars of the Roses. He died on December 30, 1460, at the Battle of Wakefield.
