Robert Bresson was a French filmmaker born on September 25, 1901, in Puy-de-Dôme, France. He was educated at Lycée Lakanal. Bresson was known for his ascetic approach to filmmaking, and his works were considered preeminent examples of minimalist cinema . During his career, Bresson was a screenwriter, film director, and photographer. He contributed significantly to various film genres, including minimalism.
