Robert Musil (born 6 November 1880 in Klagenfurt, Austria; died 15 April 1942 in Geneva) was an Austrian writer, author, playwright, screenwriter, librarian, novelist, and engineer. He was educated at Humboldt University of Berlin, where Carl Stumpf was his doctoral advisor. An Austrian citizen, Musil is best known for his works "The Man Without Qualities" and "The Confusions of Young Törless", which he authored.
