Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester (1 December 1595 – 2 November 1677) was an English nobleman, diplomat, soldier, and politician. Born in the Kingdom of England, he was the son of Robert Sidney, 1st Earl of Leicester, and Barbara Sidney, Countess of Leicester. He attended Christ Church, Oxford, where he received his education.
Throughout his life, Sidney held various occupations, such as diplomat, soldier, politician, and military personnel. Sidney had four children: Algernon Sidney, Henry Sydney, 1st Earl of Romney, Philip Sidney, 3rd Earl of Leicester, and Dorothy Spencer, Countess of Sunderland. He passed away in Penshurst, England.
