Roberto Carlos da Silva Rocha (born April 10, 1973), commonly known as Roberto Carlos, is a Brazilian former Professional football player who is now a football ambassador. He started his career in Brazil as a striker, but spent most of his career as a left back and has been described as "the most attacking left back in the history of the game". A free-kick specialist throughout his career, his shots curved at over 105 miles per hour (169 km/h). In 1997, he was ranked second in FIFA's Player of the Year. Widely regarded as one of the greatest left-backs in history, he was selected for the FIFA World Cup Dream Team in the 2002 FIFA Poll, and in 2004, Pelé was named him on the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players.
