Rusty Schweickart

Rusty Schweickart, born Russell Louis Schweickart on October 25, 1935, is an American astronaut, test pilot, aircraft pilot, fighter pilot, scientist, business and government executive, and former armed forces officer. He was born in Neptune Township, New Jersey and holds citizenship in the United States.

Schweickart was educated at Manasquan High School, and later attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Over the course of his career, he has received several awards including the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, De la Vaulx Medal, Emmy Awards, and NASA Exceptional Service Medal.
