Ryōji Noyori is a Japanese chemist and professor, born on September 3, 1938, in Kobe, Japan. He is known for his work on asymmetric hydrogenation using as catalysts complexes of rhodium and ruthenium. Noyori has received several prestigious awards, including the 2001 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Lomonosov Gold Medal, and ForMemRS.
Noyori pursued his education at some of the top institutions in the world, obtaining his degree from Nagoya University, Kyoto University, and Harvard University. During his studies, he worked under the guidance of doctoral advisor Hitoshi Nozaki. Currently, he resides in Japan.
