Ryuichi Sakamoto is a Japanese composer, musician, actor, and record producer born on January 17, 1952, in Nakano, Nagano. He holds citizenship in Japan and is known by the pseudonyms 坂本教授 and 教授. Educationally, he is an alumnus of the Tokyo University of the Arts.
He has engaged in numerous occupations such as acting, composing, musician, pianist, keyboardist, music arranger, record producer, and film score composer. Sakamoto is the founder of the Japanese label Commmons.
Throughout his career, he has contributed to various genres such as electronic music, experimental music, techno, pop music, world music, classical music, ambient music, and film score.
Ryuichi Sakamoto is the father of Kazuki Sakamoto and musician Miu Sakamoto.
