STIC International is a Pan Asian private equity firm in California that focuses on alternative investments. Founded 1999 in Palo Alto, California, it has managed more than USD1.2 billion. The firm had over 45 dedicated investment professionals in regional offices around the world in Seoul, Busan, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Silicon Valley and Vietnam. Its portfolio companies include CoHive, Everspin, Saehwa International Machinery, PlaySpan, Plato Networks, Yeong Guan Energy and Canesta.
STIC started as a venture capitalist fund in partnership with South Korea’s Ministry of Information & Communication. It invested in technology companies such as those in mobile telecommunications, next-generation networks, biotechnology and robotics. Since inception, the firm has invested in more than 282 portfolio companies diversified across the entire spectrum of technologies, and has successfully achieved 48 IPOs and 147 M&As and trade sales including partial exits (as of June 2008).
