SBIR/STTR Award attributes
Sagrad leverages their Autonomous Flight Safety System (AFSS) knowledge, design and development capabilities, and product testing experience to cost-effectively meet the objectives of this SBIR. Sagrad leverages the multi-million-dollar investments in their current product to propose AFSS architectures and flight hardware optimized for submarine-launched missiles. To meet the objectives of this SBIR solicitation, Sagrad addresses the key challenges associated with submarine-based launch vehicles and analyzes the key differences between land-based fixed launch platform and submarine-based launches. Navigational source technology options are assessed and sensor limitations identified; Sagrad summarizes potential mitigations that address identified sensor limitations. The sensor assessment also investigates technologies and applications that mitigate navigational source interference threats that jam or deceive the sensing method(s). With a potential 30-year system lifespan, Sagrad summarizes potential mitigation's related to system hardware and software evolution over the lifespan, evaluates availability and appropriate use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) components, and identifies where custom components may be required. The system architectures are evaluated for compliance with range safety requirements, effectiveness in achieving safe flight termination, and optimization of flight assurance. Summarized system architecture and design considerations account for the launch vehicle transport, launch, and flight environments.
