The mountain ledges are highest in the Central Sahara. In addition to plains, plateaus and mountains, numerous shallow saline drainless basins and large depressions in which oases are found are distinguished in the Sahara.
The vegetation of the Sahara is sparse, consisting of herbs, shrubs and trees growing in oases, highlands and along rare water sources.

Oases
The picturesque oasis of Ubari attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world. One of the most beautiful and visited lakes of the oasis is the aforementioned Umm al-Maa lake, as well as Gaberun. An interesting feature is that the water temperature at depth is always much higher than at the surface.
Unfortunately, the lakes are gradually drying up. Some, such as Lake Mandara, are filled with water only in winter, and even then not every year.
