The Startup Sandbox is a 501c3 nonprofit bioscience incubator at the University of California Santa Cruz which works to help scientists and entrepreneurs to create bioscience solutions and products. The Sandbox is a designated affiliate incubator of the University of California Santa Cruz, The Genomics Institute, the Center for Molecular Biology of RNA, the Office of Research, IATC, and the UCOP Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
As part of the program, the Startup Sandbox works to offer an entrepreneurial environment to help those develop their products with low-cost laboratory access, office and shared working space, resources, training, and networking opportunities.
This includes various laboratory equipment access, including BSL1 and BSL2 lab and office space, scientific equipment and instrumentation, and office space for conference meetings and private offices. As well, the incubator offers marketing and product launch services, and business plan creation services as well as seed funding access, financial planning, fundraising, and Series A positioning and planning.
