The Saudi Agricultural & Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) is a joint stock company owned by the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and operating since 2012. They invest in agricultural and livestock and production in countries with a competitive advantage through partnerships with governments, companies and communities.
The commodities in SILAC's field of interest includes wheat, barley, soybean, corn, green fodder, sugar, edible oil, seafood, red meat, poultry, rice and powdered milk and the technology around processing, storage, logistics, sales and marketing.
SALIC's investments and subsidiaries include Hummingbird, G3 Global Grain Group, SALIC UK Ltd., SALIC Canada Ltd., United Farmers Holding Company (UFHC), Mariya Agro Holding and Minerva Foods.
In April, 2019, SALIC announced an acquisition of the Baladjie aggregation in Western Australia's wheatbelt. The property spans more than 200,000 hectares and, while the sale amount was undisclosed, it was believed to be AUD$70 million.
