São Paulo State University (Universidade Estadual Paulista) is a public higher education institution in Brazil. Established in 1976, the university operates as an organization and educational institute in the education, higher education, and university sectors. It is located in São Paulo, Brazil.
The university is accredited by the Ministry of Education of Brazil and is affiliated with various organizations, including the Brazilian Association of Rectors of Provincial and Municipal Universities, the Council of Brazilian University Rectors, and the Rede Nacional de Extensão. São Paulo State University is also a member of the International Association of Universities.
One of its subsidiaries is the Faculty of Medicine of UESP at Botucatu, which is part of São Paulo State University's broader educational offerings.
