Scott Kelly (born February 21, 1964) is a former American astronaut and military officer. Born in Orange, New Jersey and raised in Earth, Texas, he holds United States citizenship. Kelly has also been known as Scott Joseph Kelly.
Kelly was educated at several institutions, including the University of Tennessee, State University of New York, State University of New York Maritime College, United States Naval Test Pilot School, and West Orange High School in New Jersey. In addition to being an astronaut, he has worked as an armed forces officer and engineer.
Throughout his career, Scott Kelly has received numerous awards for his service, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Legion of Merit, NASA Distinguished Service Medal, NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and NASA Space Flight Medal.
