Selena, born Selena Quintanilla Pérez on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas, was a multitalented American artist known for her work as a singer-songwriter, actor, model, record producer, designer, and costume designer. Also known as the 'Queen of Tejano music,' she explored many music genres, including rhythm and blues, soul music, Tejano music, contemporary R&B, Latin pop, and pop music. Some of her most notable works are 'Como la Flor,' 'Si Una Vez,' and 'No Me Queda Más'.
She was educated at the American School of Correspondence and California Miramar University. Selena was the founder of Selena Etc., and during her career, she functioned as a spokesperson and a singer.
Throughout her life, Selena received numerous awards and recognition, including Grammy Awards, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Tejano Music Awards, ASCAP Awards, BMI Awards, Walk of Fame, and Lo Nuestro Awards. She was married to Chris Pérez and was an American citizen. Selena tragically passed away on March 31, 1995, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
