Sensity is a company developing a platform for detecting and monitoring deepfakes used in media that is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands and was founded in 2018 by Francesco Cavalli and Giorgio Patrini.
The firms platform is made to detect deepfakes which may have negative effects on people, public institutions, and brands. The platform monitors and classifies deepfakes used on social media, video hosting platform, and disinformation networks, and offers users real time notifications and reports. The Sensity platform uses deeplearning and video forensics such as face morphing detection, GAN generated images, and visual fingerprint integrity to discover and classify deepfakes. They also provide users with tools for taking down deepfakes and blacklisting sources of deepfakes.
In October 2019 Sensity released a report that in 2018 there were approximately 7,964 deepfake videos circulating online, and in 2019 the amount of deepfakes online increased more than 100% to 14,678. Their report found that 96% of the deepfake videos they found were of videos of women engaging in sexual fantasies.
On March 22, 2019, Sensity announced receiving a grant from the Google Digital News Initiative.
