Sergey Leonidovich Sokolov was born on July 1, 1911, in Yevpatoria and was a Russian military personnel and politician. Sokolov received his education at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia and the Malinovsky Military Armored Forces Academy.
Throughout his life, Sokolov received numerous awards for his service, including the Order of Alexander Nevsky, Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd class, 3rd class, and 4th class, as well as the Order of Honor. He was also awarded the Zhukov medal, Hero of the Soviet Union, Order of Lenin, Order of the Red Banner, Order of Suvorov, Order of the Patriotic War 1st class, Order of the Red Star, Medal "For Bravery" (USSR), Medal "For Military Merit", and Medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".
Sergey Sokolov passed away on August 31, 2012, in Moscow, Russia.
