Shea Ventures is a venture capital company from Walnut, California, United States that invests in emerging technologies. Founded in 1968 by Edmund Shea and John F. Shea, it started investing in semiconductor and biotechnology industries in the San Francisco Bay Area in that year. It invests on seed, private equity as well as in early and late stage ventures. Over time, its investments increased in value and allowed the Shea Homes and Shea Properties to acquire real estate assets in California and Colorado. The company now invests in a variety of businesses, such as those that work with computer software, semiconductors, biotechnology and medical devices.
The company’s history actually started in 1881 when John Francis Shea began a plumbing business in Portland, Oregon. As Portland developed, so too did the company as it expanded into pipelines and infrastructure projects.
