Sigismund I the Old was a monarch, king, duke, and politician who was born on January 1, 1467, in Kozienice, Poland . He was the son of Elizabeth of Austria and Casimir IV Jagiellon .
Sigismund I was the father of seven children: John of the Lithuanian Dukes, Sigismund II Augustus, Catherine Jagiellon, Isabella Jagiellon, Anna Jagiellon, Hedwig Jagiellon, Electress of Brandenburg, and Sophia Jagiellon, Duchess of Brunswick-Lüneburg .
He was best known as the King of Poland and held the title of Grand Duke of Lithuania . Sigismund I the Old held Polish nationality and passed away on April 1, 1548, in Kraków .
