Skillpointe

SkillPointe is an Atalnta-based company developing a career exploration platform that supports in-demand skilled trades. The platform introduces users to skills-based careers, connects them with nearby training programs, and shares job openings. Skillpointe focuses on careers that are in high demand, have high earnings potential, and require a relatively low amount of training. These careers can be attained through trade school, apprenticeship, earn-and-learn programs, certifications, and community college degrees. SkillPointe coordinates a national database of more than 50,000 training programs from community colleges, trade programs, and technical schools. The site also aggregates more than 300,000 active job openings.

The platform was created in 2020 by Todd Wilson, who spent fifteen years as the chief financial officer of NASCAR. Wilson says he started Skillpointe to help reshape public perception of skilled trades as “an opportunity, not a stereotype.”

The SkillPointe Foundation, the nonprofit arm of SkillPointe, has raised more than $2 million and funded more than 650 scholarships nationwide.
