Education
In 1978 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (now PGUPS) with a degree in organization of transportation and transport management.
Professional experience
He began his career at the October Railway.
Since 1984, he has held key positions in various structures of Russian Railways (formerly MPS).
From 2003 to 2004, he represented the interests of the monopoly in the Republic of Estonia as an authorized representative.
In 2004, he was invited to join Transoil for the position of Deputy General Director for Development. Later he held the position of Deputy General Director for Operations.
Since 2008 - First Deputy General Director.
In 2012, he was appointed Acting General Director of Transoil.
In 2013, by decision of the general meeting of participants, he was elected General Director of the company.
He has over 35 years of experience in the rail industry.
For many years of conscientious work, Vladimir Sokolov has been repeatedly awarded industry, state and departmental awards.
