Somatus is a McLean, VA-based healthcare company that provides integrated care to help delay or prevent the progression of kidney disease. Other members of Somatus's management team include chief product and strategy officer Satish Cheema, chief financial officer Roseline Agboke, and chief operating officer Chet Akiri.
Somatus employs what it calls a "value-based" model to address kidney care. The company combines multidisciplinary community-based care teams, personalized services such as at-home dialysis, and a technology platform that provides analysis and insights to help coordinate and monitor care. Somatus aims to use this approach to kidney care to delay or prevent kidney and renal disease progression. In the US, the company has partnered with payer, health system, and provider groups through value-based contracts in thirty-four states.
Somatus has raised $465 million over five funding rounds as of 2022. Somatus more than doubled their funds in the company's most recent round, a $325 million Series E round that closed on February 25, 2022. The round was led by Wellington Management Company, who were joined by ten other investors. The round placed Somatus at a valuation of nearly $2.5 billion.
