Sonr is a blockchain ecosystem of decentralized peer-to-peer applications, combining a high-speed peer-to-peer network with a Cosmos-powered blockchain, built-in decentralized digital user identity, and supporting tools for developers.
Sonr ensures users have full control over their digital identity through the use of biometric information, and developers are given tools to build peer-to-peer decentralized applications. Additionally, Sonr has a grant program for developers with innovative project ideas. Sonr was launched in 2021 by Pradyumn Nukala and is being built for desktop, mobile, and web.
Sonr users will have a unique domain that acts as a "driver's license" for the Sonr network, enabling verifiable on-chain identity and device linking.
"Motor nodes" serve as peers on the network, sending and receiving data from peer-to-peer activity, and "highway nodes" serve as the path along which "motor nodes" are able to communicate.
A user's domain is secured by their unique biometric information, enabling users to fully control access to their data without the need for centralized security. Sonr domains work cross-chain and are interoperable with blockchains within the Cosmos ecosystem. Domain registration is planned to be $50.
Sonr's Highway SDK (software development kit) is an all-in-one solution for developing decentralized applications for the Sonr network. The SDK is a cross-stack framework for developers modeled after Amazon Web Services and Google Firebase. It features a robust console for developers to easily configure applications with all the Sonr modules available, which include objects, channels, storage, hosting, graphs, and functions.
