Queen consort of denmark and norway
Sophie of Pomerania (1498-1568) was a queen consort of Denmark and Norway as the spouse of Frederick I. She was born in Szczecin and died in Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein. She held the nationality of Germany, Denmark, and Norway. Sophie was also known for her independent rule over her fiefs Lolland and Falster.
Sophie was the daughter of Bogislaw X, Duke of Pomerania, and Anna Jagiellon, Duchess of Pomerania. As a politician, she had several children, including Adolf, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp; Elizabeth of Denmark, Duchess of Mecklenburg; Dorothea of Denmark, Duchess of Mecklenburg; John II, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Haderslev; Catherine of Mecklenburg; and Sophie of Pomerania, Duchess of Mecklenburg.
