Sound Ventures is a Los Angeles, California-based venture capital firm founded in 2015. The firm was established by Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary, who previously collaborated to create a venture capital firm, A-Grade Investments, with Ron Burkle.
The firm has made more than 200 investments since its founding and has exited from companies such as Airbnb and Duolingo.As of 2023, it manages more than $1 billion in assets across funds.
Sound Ventures focuses on funding companies operating in the technology business sectors. The firm funds companies at various stages of development, from early to growth. It raised $150 million for both its second and third rounds of funding in 2018 and 2020.
In May 2023, Sound Ventures launched a fund specifically for companies using artificial intelligence (AI) at the foundation model level. The fund is valued at $240 million, and the initial plan is to invest in six companies. Shortly after its launch, three companies had already been funded: OpenAI, Anthropic, and StabilityAI.
