Standoff 2 is a first-person shooter (FPS) video game. It was developed by Axlebolt and launched in 2017 for Android, Huawei AppGallery, and iOS. In 2021, the game was rereleased with updates that players could use voice-chat features that were integrated with Vivox software. The game has been downloaded more than 100 million times and was the most popular FPS game in Eastern Europe in 2021.
Standoff 2 is a video game that can be played in single-player or multi-player mode with a style that is similar to the game Counter-Strike. In Standoff 2, battles occur between two teams; unlike Counter-Strike, the area in which the battles take place is much smaller, which leads to a faster paced conflict. Players can choose which team they are on: the special forces or the terrorists. Three game modes affect the narrative in which the player is engaged: “Defuse the Bomb,” “Deathmatch,” and “Arms Race.”
Players have several maps to choose from, which can be locations of their battles. Standoff 2 allows players to customize their gaming experience by adjusting their controls and crosshairs. The game also has a messaging system so players can coordinate meetups and game sessions.
Standoff 2 has different themed seasons for some of its updates. Season 4, for example, was inspired by ancient Greece, so the surroundings have similar architecture and the storylines have Greek mythology influences. Sometimes the seasons correspond to seasons in the real world, with a holiday season in the month of December when it snows in the game and players' avatars can wear red Santa hats.
