Start9 Labs is a Denver, CO-based consumer electronics company founded in 2020. The company was co-founded by Aaron Greenspan, Keagan McClelland, Aiden McClelland and Matt Hill. Hill also serves as the company's CEO. Start9 Labs are the developers of Embassy, a personal server that allows users to run self-hosted software. Embassy's server, which is housed within a Raspberry Pi, sets up its own private internet network and comes with its own operating system, allowing users to surf the web in privacy through the Tor browser. As of 2021, Embassy supports Bitcoin, LND, Matrix, BTCPay Server, Bitwarden, File Browser, Sphinx Chat, Mastodon, Cups, Bar, RTL, C-Lightning, Spark Wallet, Embassy Pages, Photoview and Bitcoin Proxy. Start9 Labs has plans to add more applications in the future.
On March 11, 2021, Start9 announced that it had closed a $1.2 million funding round led by Collider Ventures, Ten31 and ShapeShift CEO Erik Voorhees.
