English footballer, played as a midfielder, winger and playmaker. Having spent his career at two of the most successful clubs in European football in the 20th century, Liverpool and Real Madrid, as well as playing for Manchester City, McManaman is the most decorated and successful English footballer in terms of the number of trophies won for any foreign club.

In 2008, he was ranked third in the Top 10 Greatest British Footballers to Play Abroad.

McManaman was the first British player to win the UEFA Champions League twice and was also the first English player to win the Champions League with a non-English club.
