Sven

Sven (Sven Scandinavia Ltd.) is a Russian manufacturer of loudspeakers and computer peripherals, registered in Finland, which owns the SVEN trademark.

The company was founded by the graduates of Moscow Power Engineering Institute's Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering in October 1991. The origin of the Sven trade mark was connected with the Svensky Holy Dormition Monastery in Bryansk, Russia, standing on the Sven River. Within the frames of the conversion at the Bryansk defense plant, there was organized the assembly of the network filters under the Sven brand, the order for which was placed by the "Svenskaya Yarmarka". The main production is acoustics (up to 70%), also headphones and headsets, keyboards and mice, webcams, gaming manipulators, power devices (UPS, voltage regulators, batteries) are produced.

The company's production facilities are concentrated in Taiwan and China. The products are positioned in the low price segment, with the corresponding asceticism in realization (cheap materials, absence of additional functions), at an acceptable quality level of the main function. The representatives of Sven claimed to have their own engineering and research departments, but this statement was recalled by the editorial staff of the IT Expert magazine, which also pointed out, referring to Google Patents, that Sven did not possess any international patents for its acoustic developments.

According to iXBT.com's "Brand of the Year" voting, Sven has been ranked #1 in the "Computer and Portable Speakers" category for 17 years (from 2002 to 2018). In 2007, one of the models became the "Editor's Choice" of Computers magazine.
