Sylvatex is a company that is developing alternative options for fuels, materials, and industrial processes by means of a renewable nano-chemistry platform. The company was founded by Virginia Klausmeier in 2012, in San Francisco, California, United States.
Chemicals, fabricate materials or structures are manipulated by the biomaterial-based nano-particles that Sylvatex has created. In order to fabricate nano-particles, Sylvatex implements their IP-protected platform, and their database that spans across industries such as batteries, materials, fragrances, fuels, and industrial settings. All of their products are manufactured from locally sourced renewable components.
With the combination of their platform and their proprietary nano-particle system, they are able to manipulate how water and oil interact in components as well as the applications of of nano-scale materials such as delivery mechanisms for oxygenates. Using biomass-derived inputs, the platform allows for self-assembly to take place by thermodynamic stable liquid crystal micro-emulsion. In turn, the compound is then composed of inverse micelles in the interior of a bubble, which allows for a renewable combustible sufactant.
