Symbl.ai is an API platform for businesses looking to deploy conversational intelligence. Symbl offers a comprehensive suite of APIs for analyzing natural human conversations, without the use of up-front training data, wake words, or custom classifiers.
The Seattle-based company was founded in April 2018 by Surbhi Rathore and Toshish Jawale as Rammer, before rebranding as Symbl.ai on March 31, 2020. Symbl.ai partners with industry-leading tech companies that operate artificial intelligence and machine learning, including Agora, AWS, Twilio, Google Cloud, and Nvidia Inception Program.
Symbl.ai uses machine learning to analyze conversations in real time. The company's aim is to eliminate the complex process of building and maintaining conversational understanding systems, so developers can focus on building experiences and services on top.
Streaming API is based on Web Socket protocol and is used for real-time use-cases where both the audio and its results are available in real time. It can be integrated directly via the browser or server.
Async APIs provide the functionality for processing stored recordings audio/video from files or public/signed URLs or textual content from a conversation.
Based on PSTN and SIP protocols, this API provides an interface for the developers to have Symbl join VoIP calls and get the results back in real time as well. Optionally, the developer can also trigger an email at the end of the conversation containing the URL to view the transcription, insights, and topics in a single page web application.
Pre-Built UI is an interface for the user to interact with the Symbl's APIs output and understand the conversation better. You can interact with speech-to-text transcription, action items, follow-ups, topics and other APIs. You can generate these APIs with a simple API call using Experience API after you have processed a conversation using any above-mentioned APIs.
Symbl React Elements are a set of UI components, which can be easily integrated into your front-end application to directly utilize Symbl’s capabilities such as transcripts, topics, and insights (coming soon). The library provides you with UI elements and custom hooks to customize your own components. React Elements offer plug-and-play capabilities, full-feature UI components for offline and real-time conversations, custom hooks for building components, and full typescript support.
Symbl.ai has multiple payment options, including a free trial, a pay-as-you-go model, and a custom service builder.
The free trial gives allows users to ingest and transcribe conversations in real time or via video, audio, or text files, and full access to all conversation intelligence capabilities. It also provides contextual insights on topics, sentiments, action items, and advanced beta features including trackers and summarizations.
Pay-as-you-go pricing starts at $0.05 per minute and $0.000067 per word, with incremental discounts starting at 30% when customers reach 12,000 minutes or 105 million words. Discounts are automatically applied with increased usage, and there are no contractual agreements. Customers can pay as they use the service, with no commitment required. Pay-as-you-go also offers developer community support.
Symbl.ai's Customize pricing is its committed high usage offering for enterprise use cases and offers implementation and dedicated CX engineering support. The company guarantees service-level agreements, data retention, access to Delete API, and a dedicated success manager.

The company's most recent $4.7 million seed round was led by Crosscut Ventures and included participation from Third Kind Venture Capital, TechNexus Venture Collaborative, Predictive VC, Jump Capital, Coughdrop Capital, several angel investors and previous investor Flying Fish Partners.
